The implementation of the barKoder solution in our application is a success, despite the fact that we are using an uncommon framework (Windev Mobile). The quality of the decoding makes all the difference.
Challenge
A logistics company needed a reliable barcode scanning solution for an Android Track & Trace application used to manage parcels distributed to various points of sale, including libraries and press shops.
The existing solution relied on Google ML Kit, but decoding performance became unreliable in challenging environments, particularly in low-light conditions. The team needed faster, more accurate barcode capture to keep parcel handling efficient and provide a better experience for users in the field.
They evaluated several alternatives, including Scandit, VisionSmarts, Dynamsoft, and ML Kit, looking for the right balance between scanning performance, supported barcode types, and cost.
Solution
The team integrated barKoder into its Android application, including an implementation built with the less-common Windev Mobile framework.
barKoder delivered the decoding quality required for difficult real-world conditions while maintaining a reasonable pricing and licensing model. Compared with the existing ML Kit implementation, it also provided broader barcode support, including EAN supplemental codes.
The team particularly valued barKoder’s on-screen scanning elements, which created a clearer and more intuitive experience while users captured barcodes.

After implementing barKoder, the application achieved a significant improvement in barcode scanning speed and accuracy, resulting in higher user satisfaction across Track & Trace operations.
